Last updated: July 25, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how SendTheSong (“we,” “us,” or “the Platform,” accessible at sendthesong.id) collects, uses, and protects information when you use our website and services (the “Service“). By using the Service, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
1. Who We Are
SendTheSong is a platform that allows users to create and share anonymous or attributed messages paired with a song, and to search for messages that others may have dedicated to them.

2. Information We Collect
a) Information you provide
- Message content: the recipient’s name (or nickname/handle), the message text, and the song you select.
- Sender information (optional): if you choose to identify yourself, your name or contact details.
- Search queries: names or terms you search to find messages addressed to you.
- Feedback: any comments or suggestions you submit to us.
b) Information collected automatically
- Device and usage data: IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, referring URLs, and pages visited.
- Cookies and similar technologies: used for site functionality, analytics, and (where applicable) advertising. See Section 7.
- Log data: timestamps, error logs, and performance data generated as you interact with the Service.
c) Information from third parties
If songs are embedded or streamed via third-party services (e.g., Spotify, YouTube), those services may collect data according to their own privacy policies when their embedded players are used.
3. How We Use Information
We use collected information to:
- Operate, maintain, and improve the Service (e.g., generating and delivering message links, enabling name search).
- Detect, prevent, and address technical issues, abuse, fraud, or violations of our Terms and Conditions.
- Analyze usage trends to improve site performance and user experience.
- Communicate with you if you contact us directly.
- Comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
4. Anonymous Messaging
The Service is designed to allow anonymous message-sending. However:
- We may still log technical data (such as IP address and timestamps) associated with a message for security, abuse-prevention, and legal compliance purposes, even if the message itself is displayed anonymously.
- “Anonymous” refers to what is displayed publicly to other users — it does not mean we retain zero technical records internally.
- We may disclose technical records if required by law, to investigate abuse (e.g., harassment, threats, illegal content), or to protect the rights, safety, or property of users or the public.
5. Sharing of Information
We may share information with:
- Service providers: hosting, analytics, and infrastructure providers who process data on our behalf under confidentiality obligations.
- Legal authorities: where required by law, court order, or governmental request, or to protect against harm, fraud, or abuse.
- Business transfers: if the Platform is involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
We do not share message content or sender identity with the public beyond what you choose to make visible on the Platform.
6. Data Retention
We retain message content, technical logs, and account-related information for as long as reasonably necessary to operate the Service, resolve disputes, enforce our agreements, and comply with legal obligations. You may request deletion of a message you created — see Section 9.
7. Cookies and Analytics
We use cookies and similar technologies to:
- Keep the Service functioning properly.
- Understand how users interact with the Platform (analytics).
- Where applicable, support advertising or promotional features.
You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect some features of the Service.
8. Children’s Privacy
The Service is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required by your local law). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn that we have collected information from a child in violation of this policy, we will take steps to delete it. Parents or guardians who believe their child has provided us information may contact us at contact@sendthesong.id.
9. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on your location, you may have rights to:
- Request access to personal data we hold about you.
- Request correction or deletion of your data.
- Object to or restrict certain processing.
- Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
To exercise these rights, contact us at contact@sendthesong.id. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request, and some requests (e.g., deleting a message someone sent about you) may be limited by technical or legal constraints.
10. Data Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. International Users
If you access the Service from outside Indonesia, your information may be transferred to and processed in Indonesia or other countries where our service providers operate, which may have different data protection laws than your home country.
12. Third-Party Links and Content
The Service may link to or embed third-party content (such as music streaming platforms). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties. Review their respective privacy policies before interacting with embedded content.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated “Last updated” date. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
